Hi,

Alright, i bought a SB Audigy 2 Value in October last year. Its been really great ever since but lately ive been having a serious problem.

Today Ive just logged on to WoW and within minutes of playing the sound seems to go into a frenzy of crackling, popping, hissing, twinging and twanging sounds, really distortionate. It does this really loudly.

This problem happened a few days ago of which i simply thought it must be some sort of software collision with the onboard audio (which i didnt install the drivers for when i done a reformat a while back). It probably also resulted in 3 so called "serious crashes" reported by windows

At first i thought it was the graphics crashing the system, so i un-stalled the current drivers and got the new Nvidia ones. As for the sound card (the sound problem still occured after) i simply uninstalled the drivers, done a defrag, reinstalled drivers and it was fine for about 2 days, the system very stable.

Then of course it happend again today (no system crashes though, still stable).

I couldnt find any drivers or updates to the card so im in a tight spot.

FYI:

My system spec

AMD 64 3000+ @ 2.2Ghz
Asus A8N-SLI
1GB Geil Value RAM
GF 6600GT @ 600/1200
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value
120GB WesternDigital HD

I'd also just like to know if its the sound card just failing and needs to be RAM'd or summink.

Cheers.

Well to eliminate the sound card you could always remove it and use the onboard sound. If using onboard fixes it then it looks like the sound cards broke. If it dosent fix it then it must be something else.
