Ive still got this from years ago its so handy as i can plug the guitar into the live drive front slot headphons n mic.

what i want to know is can i get a newer xfi card and still use the live drive 5 inch box as been looking at them and seem to have the connections on the card itself

Im dual booting xp + w7 btw

problem is with live drive card when trying to get it working dont even see a card in the slot under W7,. But under xp works perfect

Also have asus xonar pci-e Brill card no probs in w7 at all but cant plug guitar in :(

can anyone recommend a xfi card as well that actually works with W7

Thanks very much for reading this

ps i would like a pcie card as all my slots are just about taken

No, the Live Drive from the SB Live! is not compatible with X-Fi cards, even though the X-Fi version looks identical. I used to have the same card and Live Drive, I too wanted to use it with an X-Fi, but the connection is different.

You can buy the Live Drive for X-Fi cards on the popular auction site. To get a new Titanium, as I think that is the cheapest X-Fi still on sale to support the Live Drive, and the Live Drive itself is going to be a costly job. You could possibly look at a 2nd hand X-Fi card, to try bring the cost down.

No other manufacturer makes a front panel like Creative do, others use the front case audio sockets, but this can be prone to interference.

Friend of mine also has an SB Live! He cannot get it to work in Win7 for love nor money. Creative clearly do not give a **** about people who own their older products. They would prefer them to buy an X-Fi instead. If they had said that their older cards will not be supported in Win7, then fair enough I guess, they can't support them forever. To release drivers for these cards though, that do not work properly, and not to bother fixing them, just plain sucks IMO. One of the reasons I have no love for Creative anymore. People are forced to seek out modified drivers in order to try and get their cards to work, with varying success. Either that, or buy a new card.

Despite my annoyance with Creative, I still have to acknowledge their X-Fi range are very good cards.

Thanks very much for that info saved me a headache in advance.

could you give me a couple a links for cards that will work with the newer i/o box and win7

Thank You
