Basically i have gave my mate my old machine dun nothing to it except format and re-install xp.

However when trying to install the drivers it's saying cannot find Sound Blaster Live ???

Has this happened to anyone before? is it a easy fix?

Will taking the hardware out starting the machine up then switching of and putting hardware back in solve it?

Regards,
Paul

Not necessarily. My recommendation would be to do something like that. I, too, have had problems with Creative soundcard drivers. Best bet is to get onto the Creative Support website and follow their instructions for doing a cleansweep uninstall of all Creative drivers and software. This should do it for you:

here

After this, make sure that any audio related on-board devices are
disabled at the BIOS.

When windows detects the new hardware, cancel the installation.

Then download and install the latest drivers from the Creative website.

Creative always say to be at least 2 slots away from the Soundcard and the video card.

And you have, of course, loaded the drivers and software for the motherboard after the XP re-install and have the latest bios and chipset drivers?

Good luck, mate.
