After using my card for a year and just upgrading to W10 I've noticed this problem as well, soon as a play an audio file, any fixes? Using the W10 drivers as well.
So is this a very common issue? Did a quick google search and I could see a few threads elsewhere on the subject, but I guess if it was common there would be loads. I guess it can't just be that people don't notice? Kinda wondering as was about to order one...
I was using my soundblaster recon for a week waiting for my replacement U7 and i noticed that opening the SB Control panel would cause CPU usage to spike to around 30% for about 3-4mins after opening the application. It never used to do this when i used it beforehand. This was the on the most recent 8.1 driver, might be worth trying some older ones it it would appear the newest drivers are buggy.
ive checked mine while all the soundblaster programmes are open, playing music and messing around with the settings, its at 0.6% for the CPU, drops to 0.1% when closing the programme and then 0, the ram is on 55.6Mb so totaly different from the op
I read it could possibly be I'm using 5.1 surround on 2.1 speakers but I still get the same issue using either option in the SB control panel.
Edit: Strange, it's behaving properly now. All I did was delete Chrome processes and uninstall Google Canary. Perhaps a software conflict however unlikely? That's with latest official Creative drivers.
Going to try PAX again and see if I can recreate the problem.
Edit: Latest PAX beta drivers working fine, the only thing I did was uninstall Google Canary. Happy days!
The only thing that fixed this for me in the end was a re-install of OS, I tried everything and put hours into it, in the end for the sake of another 2 hours I just re-installed. Think something get's corrupt and there's no going back. What is it though who knows.
