Sound card dead?

Hey guys

I've been running a Sound Blaster Z for many years. Today I switched my PC on (no updates) and my headphone no longer worked in the headphone jack. It works via the speaker jack, however.

When plugged into the headphone jack, it is detected by Windows in Playback devices, but no sound comes out regardless of what settings I apply (stereo or 5.1). I've tried reinstalling drivers, etc, no joy.

For the time being I've moved over to onboard sound, but does this mean my headphone jack is dead (maybe the amp burned out?).

I'm on Windows 10 by the way.

Many thanks

Simon

What about output settings in sound cards control software?
Sound card's own rear headphone output doesn't give out signal unless selecting headphones.

And did you remove old drivers or just installed on top of old ones?

I know you said there have been no updates, but until I blocked driver updates via group policy Windows 10 kept replacing the Creative driver which would stop my headphone jack from working. I'd suggest downloading the latest creative drivers and installing those.
