Im just a bit tired of having a really good machine with blistering graphics but really crappy audio, im using onboard sound and have Steel Series v5h2. The headset has been brilliant but i think its dying because it keeps making crackling noises and if i turn the volume really high only the left side works.

I basically Game a lot so i require a head set + sound card which will provide positional accuracy so i know where my enemies are, i also listen to music and would like the quality of that to be really good aswell.

Here is my PC spec;
Gigabyte GA-X48-DQ6 Intel X48 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Corsair 4GB DDR2 XMS2 Dominator PC2-8500C5 TwinX (2x2GB) Supplied with Airflow Fan (TWIN2X4096-8500C5DF) (quantity x2) So 8GB in total
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 LGA775 'Yorkfield' 2.66GHz 12MB-cache (1333FSB) Processor - Retail
2x Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB GDDR5 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail in crossfire mode
Vista 64 bit Ultimate

I would just like everything to be compatible with each other, fit and work well bear in mind im using crossfire so i dont know which card will fit on that motherboard with 2 graphics cards installed. Budget is around 150 to 200 quid. Thankyou for your help guys :)

thx margaret, i also saw Sennheiser PC350 Pro-Gaming Headset are these better than the HD595 + Elara mic combo? or are they not too good?

Nope they won't be as good. :)

You can just clip the microphone behind your monitor like I do, picks me up loud and clear, pretty damn good for the price.

When you get the Xonar set all your games to 5.1 and use Dolby Headphone, it sounds great and gives a nice surround sound effect.

ok i just recieved the xonar dx but im completely clueless as in to which pci -e slot i should put it in,

There are only 2 visible at this time on the motherboard, 1 is between both of my graphics cards there is enough space to slide it inbetween the 2 cards but the crossfire bridges go above it since they are flexible anyways i dont see why there will be a problem but wont there be too much heat in between the 2 graphics cards is it safe to put the sound card in between?

also there is 1 pci-e slot available above the graphics cards but i dont see how i can fit the card on to this slot because the card isnt fitting in as it is too long and gets blocked by my Ram chips.... any suggestions?
