Hi, I have recently purchased an Asus Xonar DGX from OCUK. Ive installed it today and have noticed that now when playing music through my speakers the sound has become a lot quieter than when i was using the onboard sound and the headphone volume has also become a lot quieter. When i installed the sound card i uninstalled Realtek Audio Driver and installed the Asus software that came with it.
The motherboard is a Gigabyte Z68AP-D3 and its is running Windows 7 64bit.

Is there anything i have done wrong in the installation process?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Have you tried tinkering with any of the settings in the Xonar control panel? When I first installed mine I noticed it was quieter but then after a tinker got it up to volume again :-)

I have had a look at it, done a little bit with the equalizers but cant find anything on the overall volume apart from the circle adjuster and even with that on full its still quieter than it was with onboard sound.

I'm surprised it's a lot quieter when using speakers. Don't the speakers go loud enough to compensate?

As for headphones: Did you alter the headphone amp gain setting? On the highest setting the volume should be far higher than that of any onboard audio and most sound cards that don't have a headphone amp.

I remember a thread some time back, where the OP found that it was still not as loud as his onboard audio even when set to the highest gain. Something must have been wrong there. Having used a DG, max volume using headphones on highest gain was way too loud for me, and much louder than any sound card I've used, bar the Xonar Essence.

Thanks guys, adjusted the headphone gain and its now plenty loud enough. As for the speakers they to seem to have become louder as well for some reason, anyway problem solved!
Cheers

If you use the 'headphones' output setting when using speakers, then the amp will increase the volume of the speakers. Just not as much as headphones, as they are much more sensitive. :)
