I recently remembered that we have a Hercules Gamesurround Muse 5.1 sound card which isn't being used, and I'm tempted to stick it in, but I'm not sure wether it's actually worth it?

I have a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L mobo with onboard 7.1, although I am only using the bog standard 2 speaker setup.

Would the muse card improve the sound quality any noticable amount? Or would it just take up a slot.

I don’t get it? If its better and its lying around doing noting use it? Or am I missing something here?

I know what I would do ;) Use it :p

If you've already got the card then why not just try it out? Going by the specifications I've got my distinct doubts it will add anything since onboard sound has improved vastly since that was new but there is no harm in trying it out anyway.

Im just not sure if it's any better, it must be at least, probably over 5 years old now. Just not sure wether it's even worth the effort really.
