Sound card question.

I have a 5.1 surround sound system i can hook it up via usb but i would like to get a good sound card and hook it up to that.

I am not sure how to hook it up to a sound card though.

It has left and right, optical and usb connections at the back of the box.

Can i get the new creative card with an optical fitting suited for gaming oem version prefered because im on a budget.

To put it a better way i would like a sound card that i can hook up to my 5.1 surround system and i think i could only achieve this by getting a sound card that has optical.
