sound card/speakers recomendation

I've just managed to snap the speaker jack cable inside my internal sound card meaning I now only have the internal system speaker functioning, nice!

Anyway I thought I would take the oppotunity to upgrade to a seperate PCI soundcard and some decent speakers. I use my PC for gaming it also acts as my hifi system and radio.

I'm looking to spend around £50 on the card and speakers, maybe a 5.1 setup??

You're dreaming if you can think of buying a 5.1 system even of acceptable quality plus soundcard for £50

ok fair enough, not too bothered about 5.1 but just want a decent setup without it costing me a fortune. I was actually quite happy with the setup I was running, the onboard card, external sub/amp and a set of JVC speakers. To me it sounded pretty good.
