Hello chaps, I'm thinking of getting a sound card when my student loan comes in.

However my last sound card was a creative X-fi something or other, but the thing was it wouldnt let me plug in my headphone and mic into it, so I had to do without.

I'm gona upgrade my case too, to a 650D so wondering what sound cards out there support the Headphone and Mic jack on the case?

Budget isn't important at the min, but good performance and good price is preferable.

Cheers

Current X-Fi's do. The older X-Fi's, Xtreme Music and Gamer, etc, did not have a front case headers. The new low profile Gamer does though.

All Asus Xonar's also have front case headers, except the D2/X.

Front ports are never any good and this is because of non shielded cables used in most cases which causes EMI on the line.So worth researching that on the 650D maybe it has no emi issues but I doubt it.

Best thing you could ever do is forget front ports and just have case sideways rear facing monitor that way easy to swap out cables.

The asus xonar dx (has front panel connector i should know ive used it and yea it's got emi in my ft01)
is probably the best all round budget sound card depends how much you want to spend really.
