I need to connect my V+ box's spdif out to my computer so I can get surround sound via my computers speakers. I have an X-Fi XtremeMusic which I thought could work but it looks like it doesn't as I have no red light visible in the FlexiJack port. My motherboard, P7P55D, also only has spdif out. So can anyone reccomend me a new sound card that has a spdif input for surround sound. Ideally as cheap as possible without hurting quality. Cheers!

I'm pretty sure that a spdif in on a sound card that can handle Dolby Digital works for surround sound. Is that wrong?

No it can't. Sound cards can only output Dolby Digital. They cannot decode Dolby Digital coming in, it can only be stereo.

the original xfi's did it. the extreme music and the elite pro i know for a fact could decode dd/dts over spdif input. i'm sure there are other cards that do it as well.
