looking at upgrading my sound card, i have at the moment a auzen xf-i with a pair of ATH-AD900 which i find more than adequate but my son needs a upgrade from his on-board so i was going to give him my sound card and get a pci-e card.
The two options i have whittled down to are the Sound Blaster ZX and the Asus Xonar Xense Sound Card + Sennheiser PC 350 Xense Edition Headset
I know the creative card is unknown at the moment but does sound good and the asus card is pricey but i also could do with the gamers headset.
Could anybody give me a reason to go with the asus card and would it be a upgrade from my xf-i.
(also thanks to the people on here for sorting out my issues with my auzen card crashing)

The Xense is a good buy. £180 maybe a lot to spend, but you are getting what would be around a £140 sound card and a headset that retails for £130 or there about. The 350's on their own are hideously overpriced. With the Xense though, they are good value. The 350's do lack some bass, but they do work very well with the Xense.

I wouldn't bother with the Zx. It's the same card as the Z, but with an overpriced module thing included. Just noticed OcUK have a OEM version of the Creative Z for pre order. At under £50, that looks like a really decent buy.

Which Auzentech card do you have? Prelude? Forte?

i just want to add that the xense isn't natively pcie, and that the zx is most likely overpriced. it does have better caps than the z but that makes 0 difference to sound quality. the zxr looks like it could be alright though

Well, if you wait a bit, they will probably release an OEM version of the Zx like they did the Z. Could be a good buy then.
