Sound Card

I'm interested in everyones' thoughts on this too - currently using the onboard sound on the P5B Deluxe. I'm no audiophile, but do use the PC a lot for music, gaming and movies. So wondering if a dedicated soundcard would be worth it - is the difference that noticeable? Usually use headphones or occasionally 2.1 speakers. Unlike OP I'm using XP still, so the Vista factor isn't there for me.

I used onboard sound exlusively until last year when I got an X-Fi Fatal1ty and a set of Aego M 2.1's and I'd be reluctant to go back to using onboard.

This inital difference was immense although now I'm used to it but I'd have to see some good reviews comparing a board's onboard sound to high end stand alone cards to be convinced to go back.

For me the Fatal1ty and the Aego's is a fairly cheap way of upgrading your sound set up and it makes a huge difference to games and listening to music through the PC.

Only thing is when I moved to Vista you lose a lot of functionality due to the problems in trying to get the creative software working but these functions can be carried out by third party software.

I'd recommend upgrading. :)
