Hey, i talk on the internet via microphone, when a couple of days ago the outbound sound from my microphone was absolute rubish, my mates could hardly understand, i thought it was my mic as its pretty much on its last life now.

i just had 5 spare minutes so i put a old soundcard in...and walla! perfect...

so that means my mic socket is bummed up (on board sound i use)

i have the p5k premium wi/fi anyone else had onboard sound problems ?
(probably a silly question because who uses onboard :D)

so main question is im looking for a relativly cheap graphics card max of 50pound
never bought a sound card so dont know what im looking for (im a hardcore gamer ;))

so which sound card for budget of 50

thanks all

The xtreme gamer is a slightly better card than the xtreme music anyway I think, I've certainly noticed less odd noises since changing to it from an xtreme music. It's more up to date, has optical out and a front audio header. Brilliant card if a little bit on the expensive side.

Though I've not had to use the mic port on mine for any reason yet, so no clue there

I always believed and people posted that the XtremeMusic was better than the XtremeGame in games, cant remember why, hence why i bought one instead of the Gamer, remember someone saying "dont believe the Gamers better in Games over the Music just because its got the word "Gamer" in it" or something along those lines, oh well I still think games sound amazing on the XtremeMusic, must better than on-board anyways.

It's not very often we see posts on here where someone is buying a sound card cos they want to use a mic.

For what I do on the web, I get to use the mic a lot and I find the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic and other other sound cards that are 24 bit don't go well with my mic.
I'm prolly in a minority as I use Stereo Mix (Creative What U hear) to play music and use mic at same time, and the old SB Lives work best for me.

Interested to see if any of you other sound card users have the same problem with low mic level on 24 bit cards.

I mostly use Plantronics mics cos I like them, but they don't seem to like 24 bit cards :(
