Sound crackling

Hey guys, just upgraded to a 980Ti from my old 7970 and now I'm getting crackling sounds on anything I try to play (music, games, YouTube) which I wasn't getting before. I have a USB Audio Interface (Focusrite Scarlett 18i20) and I'm running Windows 10. Using my USB DAC and headphones, the sound is fine.

I did not have this problem with my old GPU, any ideas?

I have this issue with a friends computer expect with a 970. I'll run latencymon now and see what it shows.

EDIT - Update Latencymon says it's having difficulty.

Have already updated the BIOS and disabled CPU throttling.

Do you think it's a faulty GPU?

Unlikely, as I said in the other thread latency spikes are a known issue with nvidia, at least in my line of work (not audio).

Windows isn't my preferred platform for audio so I'm not super clued up about it, however if you are using ASIO drivers for your interface and you have the latency set very low any spikes will cause breaks in the audio stream.

Try increasing the ASIO latency a bit, if that's what you're using.

Can you post a screenshot of LatencyMon?

Noticed something, in device manager and in Geforce Experience, My Rig, it says 780 rather than the new 970.

I've removed all the drivers with drive cleaner and still it shows the incorrect card. Maybe related to my problem?

If this system is using Intel network driver make sure it's not using latest version they is high DPC latency issue with this.. Instead for now use Microsoft driver that comes with Windows 10.

Right so just done 2nd reinstall with Win 7 and this time without the GPU just running off the onboard video. Still got the same pops/cracks.

Is this a BIOS mobo issue? (bios up to date)
Should i send back the board?

Not just yet. Sorry not replied back in work atm..

Did you look at the network driver? Run latencymon again and wait for stutter to happen, when it happens take note of the driver that us hanging. Before you had directx and network.

That's ok i really appreciate the help.

I left it running for some time but it stayed green and claiming everything was ok despite the crackling still ongoing.

OK if cracking still happens and you don't get latency spikes you can stop looking at that now..

Is the cracking happen on headphones or speakers? Do you have anything else to test like another set?
