Fresh install of Vista 64 (after I destroyed my original when trying to install themes ), and I'm unable to install the motherboard sound drivers. Realtek HD Audio. I'm not even sure if the other drivers on the motherboard installed correctly :/

It's a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L Rev 2.0

I tried installing the drivers from the disk, which worked perfectly well yesterday when I had my original fresh install of vista. However, today on my 2nd new install it got stuck installed one of the drivers. Restarted and it finished off the one that got stuck and said they were all installed. My main problem is that there is no Realtek HD Sound control panel showing and I've no idea why. Unistalled the drivers from Device manager ( Windows recognises it's there, it just won't show the control panel) and installed them from the Gigabyte website but still no luck.

This is making a bad day worse, any advice much appreciated :)

so just boot into safe mode and uninstall them then install them again from the cd...you said it worked fine the first time from the cd so do it again ?

However I seem to reinstall the drivers I am unable to get the control panel up.

is your audio working ? is it enabled in the bios ?

Yes, audio is working fine. Windows device manager shows it as being there but I just cannot find any way of bringing the control panel up.

Also there's nothing in the control panel about the sound drivers. Normally there's a Realtek icon/sound panel icon but there's only the default windows settings to change :(
