sound from graphics card via hdmi.how?

i disabled my sb audigy yet the sound still comes via tv speakers,does anyone know if the sound is generated by the graphics card,in this case a gtx480

AFAIK you have to go into Audio Properties and select the sound source....in this case the HDMI sound will be listed, select your sound output as required..

The graphics card can send digital audio via HDMI, just like you can send digital audio via USB for example.

I had the same thought when first connecting my HD TV to my PC via HDMI. had expected to need separate audio cable but found the option in sound settings and it worked.
