Hi, just built a computer with a abit ip35 mother board that has 7.1 sound.
I only have some crappy speakers that are like 5 years old. Just a left and a right one, the right one connects into the left one which has then 3.5mm jack which plugs into the computer,
now on the computer i have 5 sockets to choose from a cen/sub, R.L/R.R, S.L/S.R, Line in, Line out. which one should i have it plugged into?
If its in the line out then i can hear sound when i do a test on the Realtek HD Audio Manager but not on games.

TIA

the abit ab9 lets me use any colour female jack - for any purpose, the software pips up and asks what you have just plugged in....select ie: front l/r, or subwoofer etc - job done

thought most boards did the same

Yes but they still have default colours then you do not use software to swap and I wont use Onboard sound for my own use only customers.

Makes more sence to plug into the ideal socket than swap in software.

The Asus Mobos doe the same as you said above, thats if your cant work out where to plug your 5.1 in the 1st place.

was plugged in the green one, had to change some settings but now it works :) would it be worth getting some 5.1 speakers?
