I have had this motherboard for a few monthsnow and I am very sorry to say that my experience with it hasn't been great. I've had some on/off sound issues with the motherboard and it appears that recent Windows updates might have made it worse.

My X470 Aorus Gaming 7 seems to be having an issue reported on the Gigabyte forums and on Reddit - where connecting speakers the green speaker out port on the motherboard jacks results in virtually inaudible sound, even with the volume all the way up. The only workarounds seem to be to use a front panel case port for the speaker connection (which is what I am doing right now) or download the Realtek software and remap the line in blue port to be speaker out.

This does seem to be a known issue:

I have tried the lastest Realtek driver from the Gigabyte website and also the Windows 10 standard driver - none seem to help. I am on the latest X470 BIOS from Gigabyte - F40, Windows 10 64 bit version 1809. I am using the latest AMD chipset drivers directly from AMD, 19.10.0429.

I have asked OCUK if I could RMA the board, which they are happy to do, but as they've said it will be a repair or replacement, I think I am likely to have the same issue again later.

Anyone else had this problem with their X470 Aorus Gaming 7? Seems to be a bit of a known issue with the Realtek chipset and Windows 10 1809 or later.

@GIGA-Man - is there anyway you can help raise the profile of this within Gigabyte? The links above suggest it's reasonably widespread and it's a bit disappointing given it's my first Gigabyte board for some time....

Just a stab in the dark, but have you tried getting the drivers from the Realtek site ? I cant get to it at the moment, it seems to be down, or maybe my VPN is interrupting it so cant post a link, just google it.

Thanks all for taking the time to reply.

@GIGA-Man - flashed the Realtek audio chip, it did a reboot and my speakers now work through the rear green jack :D I checked your old threads to find the previous time you posted it and others have said it worked for them as well - so fingers crossed, hopefully it's sorted!

Thanks so much for taking the time to represent Gigabyte on the forums :)

You can virus check the file, I've just checked my dropbox and it's fine.

I didnt mean it like that bud, what I meant is if he buggers his board up with the file, like his system is unstable for instance, then he cant come back to me having a moan about it, im 100% sure the file is clean coming from you.

No worries, perhaps I came across as a little more defensive than I intended :-)

Hello does this work for the x570 motherboards too? I have a x570 pro and im getting crackling/buzzing sound when i listen to music watch youtube.
Cheers

No it wont sorry the audio chips and problem are not the same. Is it only when you are watching You Tube you have the issue?

Have you tried connecting the front audio to see if you get the same issues, it's possible this is a connection issue possibly. I don't think the issue is related to the firmware on the sound chip.

Same issue on front, rear and via hdmi.
Also just set up my ram to XMP profile and my pc restarted cause of kernel error 41
My ram is Corsair Vengeance lpx 3600c18 2x8gb.
It's on my motherboard's support list. Don't tell the ram could be causing all this?

edit: omg now even the audio seems to be out of synch :(

If it's doing it on front rear and hdmi, it's not the sound chip on the board, hdmi carries audio from a chip on your graphics card, an entirely different sound chip.

It could be ram, it might be worth giving memtest an overnight run.
