I was getting closer to finally settling on a pair of headphones (Grado SR60/SR80) when someone on here said that "...on medium volume I can hear them downstairs..." not what I wanted to hear.

I'm looking for a pair of headphones that will used at home when producing electronic music, but also a fair bit at work in a fairly quiet office. As well as on the bus to work. I thought the Grado SR60s were closed, and hoped that leakage wasn't too bad. Does anyone else who uses them have any useful reallife comments on their sound leakage? :)

What are my alternatives? Looking for:
Reasonably neutral (but I don't mind a bit more bass);
Outer ear cans;
not too power-hungry (I may or may not get a cheap preamp)
and below £90. SR60s are £70-80 online aren't they? I found them for £80 on a London highstreet yesterday.

Thanks.

Okay, I've been doing more reading around and it seems that these SR60s do sound a little loud to people sitting near to the wearer.

What similar 'phones to the Grados are there out there that are comfy and well sealed?

Grados aren't closed at all, you can see the speaker through the wholes in the back of them. Just tried my SR80s connected to my MP3 player on half volume, and there's definitely plenty of leakage - probably enough to annoy the person sat next to you on the train/bus, and if you were in a quiet office, enough to annoy someone within say 3-4 metres.

Btw I wouldn't particularly describe Grados as neutral either. They're very bright. I often think the mids are quite lacking on my SR80s.

I don't know the Sennheiser range well, but I'm sure they'll have something that's closed back and fits your budget.

Cheers for that info. Grados now off the list.

Just need some alternatives that are comfy, not open design and around £80. Anyone using AKG 141/240 Studios here?
