Sound like GPU dying?

Hi all, having problems with a ASUS GTX670 DirectCU II, last night during a World of Warcraft raid I started getting frequent lockups (driver crash) and artifacts in game, I tried updating the drivers to the latest beta (had latest release drivers) in case they had become corrupt but it didn't work and artifacts present in Heaven Valley too.

I then installed EVGA PrecisionX to attempt to under-clock it to see if that would provide a temp fix, reducing core and memory timings by 500MHz didn't really help, what "fixed" it though was maxing out the power target slider (to 122%), this allowed it to run fine even when the core/memory were set back to default.

I put fixed in quotation marks as having to raise the power target to make a card work is probably akin to trying to bail out a sinking Titanic with the FA cup, but yeah what do people think? definite issue that's going to get worse as time goes on? contact ASUS? For reference I have had this card about a month as it was a warranty replacement for another that died (differently).

So it's doing all this at stock volts, stock clocks, stock powertarget?

Try a complete driver clean, and if it still happens after installing latest WHQL drivers, RMA it.

Yeah I figured as much /sign, these things always happen at a bad time, thanks guys :)

To clarify, the cards never been overclocked, it started exhibiting issues similar to what you would expect with a bad overclock and this was only abated by raising the power target.

Spam refreshing the main page now to see if any GPU's are on today only, lol.

ubersonic download GPUz and have that open whilst your gaming. Then open up msi afterburner again and increase power limit to full.

Play a game for a while then check on GPUz under the Sensors tab and check what your Power Consumption (TDP) is at, you can check the max by clicking the percentage number and change it to max.

Check and see if it goes over 100%.

It turns out it wasn't sorted with the thermal target maxed, it just wasn't being stressed during solo quests as much as it was in a 10m raid, anyway heres a pic after some stress (or enough to spark an issue at least):
