just set up a new PC with an AMD 7970 Gfx card, it has a dvi, hdmi, and 2 x mini DP ports, running Windows 8 .

my setup is a hdmi - hdmi cable going to a normal monitor and a miniDP - HDMI going to the TV

when only 1 cable is plugged in, (either hdmi or miniDP) the sound is sent to that device without a problem

if i have the hdmi and miniDP connected when i boot up it defaults to the hdmi for audio output and wont all me to change

and if i try to connect the miniDP after bootup it comes up with a message saying i have connected a hdmi - dvi cable and must just seperate sound

Obviously i use the desktop for general stuff and the TV for gaming and movies, and i have a Bose Tv Sound system connected to the TV so need the sound to route through that when using the tv as the main screen.

my current solution is to leave the hdmi disconnected until i need the desktop.. but thats hardly ideal

i am running the latest drivers and updates.

so any help would be great

cheers!
