mods, please can I keep this here? I know I had one in sound forum, but it got 0 replies - I'm hoping it will get more visibility here.

On my asrock ion 330, when trying to watch movies or even just play some mp3s, every few seconds (5~10) I get a buzz. It's not the tv, because I can play recorded movies from my dvd player (connected to tv through scart) no problem.

I had a quick search but didnt see this as a problem on the asrock 330. I have the latest audio driver so I'm stuck on what is causing the buzz. could it be the hdmi cable that attaches the ion 330 to my tv?

If it makes any difference, when I remote desktop into the htpc, and play an mp3, the sound is fine on my local machine. Doesnt that suggest it's not a driver problem?

edit: I have just found some avi's that play ok, so now I'm really confused. I would think that this definitely means the hdmi cable is not the problem, and nor is the tv. The only things that I have installed codec/player-wise are vlc, and cccp. both vlc player and wmp have the same buzz problem.

e2: o/s is xp pro sp2

Thanks for any ideas/help.

Do you have a 3.5mm Stereo to L/R phono cable lying around?

If you do, connect the asrock's green audio out to the TV's phono sound input and see if you still get the buzz.
