my brother has a problem with the sound crackling and interference on gta v using the onboard sound from the motherboard (realtek).. tried new drivers re formating etc.. works ok on other games, but he mostly plays GTA. Would installing one of these solve the problem.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Asus Xonar DGX 5.1 PCI-Express Sound Card with built in Headphone Amp £24.95
Total : £28.86 (includes shipping : £3.26 Ex.VAT).

Has he or you searched for other people with this problem?

While a sound card should solve the problem, it really depends if there is a problem with the game. Just doing a quick search, I found someone that has had this with onboard audio and two different sound cards. He also only gets this problem with GTA. Given what this guy has experienced, there is a chance that a sound card will be the same.

Best do as much searching as you can on the issue first, unless he just fancies taking a punt as it's only £25.

i have also seen the same from googling, but thought installing a branded board would help.. he tried the HDMI port which uses the Nvidia GPU as a sound card and this worked fine, but the picture wasnt great. I use a headset with built in soundcard, what i realy wanted is for him to drop the pc off one weekend and i can try mine (or install sound card) problem is hes 60miles away..and im not lending him my headset

Ask him if he is using the front panel audio connector could well be solved simply by plugging direct to the motherboard
