Got an intermittent sound problem, playing games, music, films, my sound just goes off for maybe a second or two then comes back on again. I have reinstalled drivers still no luck anyone got any ideas. no sound card just onboard sound. MSI Z68A-GD65-G3 Intel Z68

mmm... could be your speakers maybe? have you tried testing them on a hifi system or ipod or something similar?

OR

in device manager, go to the sound options and uninstall the sound hardware, scan for hard ware changes then reboot, and reinstall it via device manager and then update the drivers again

Thanks for advice I'v tried a different set of speakers, no joy, will try uninstalling in device manager when i get home from work. Only built the system 2 weeks ago all went smooth just this annoying sound problem, really doing my head in!

Sound seems to be working now (fingers crossed) uninstalled device and drivers, then reinstalled device and drivers, then shut down and started up ,tested, and has worked without fault for a couple of hours, BUT now i have the realtec control pop up, popping up randomly saying i have plugged something in when i have not, so i plug some headphones in and configure the device, all good, then 10 mins later same thing! i have disabled the pop up alert in the settings tab but obviously somethings not right. Hate it when thing are not right. Bugger!!

Erm it seems to be a stubborn little bugger of a fault you have going off there dude.

At least it is working, that is the main thing.

Yeah, but it'll bug the hell out of me because I know somethings wrong, I'm sure I'll sort it at some point

Thought about getting a sound card, but to be honest the onboard sound on the MSI Z68 GD65 is very good (THX surround 7.1) It is working now, but the realtec popup telling me i've plugged something in is very annoying, but this can be disabled in settings. i just dont like knowing something is wrong and not being able to sort it out.
Has anyone else had the same problem with the popups or is it just me!!!
