Sound Problems!

Hi,

I have a problem and im not sure what the problem is.

When my friend runs winamp the sound is ok but when he runs firefox too the sound goes all jerky and laggy, its really bad.

would a sound card help?

Whats his specs, and is it only on loadup of the program?

If its just when FF is loading and its on the same hard drive as the MP3 file then simply FF is eating up the bandwidth from the harddrive causing it to stutter. (Or CPU if the system is ancient)

That one should not struggle with MP3 playback at all.

Old windows install?

Has it always done it?

Whats it like with IE, games and other apps? Could it be a failing FF plugin?

Maybe run Prime95 and play some music and this will test if having the CPU on full load effects things.

the cpu was refurbished, so im thinking its that. the prob is cant afford another will a cheapo sound card stop this?
