I am using my old PC (P4 Dell, 256mb RAM, mx400 GPU and a soundblaster soundcard) and cannot get any sound. In WMP I get the error message

"Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There might not be a sound device installed on your computer, it might be in use by another program, or it might not be functioning properly."

Earlier I switched it on and sound did not work via Youtube but did work through WMP-now nothing works at all. I have had this problem before and it worked after a restart, but it seems to be getting less and less reliable. Any ideas?

Ive just rebooted and updated the drivers and it still does not work. When I go into "adjust system volume" in control panel, it says that there is no sound device installed.
