Does anyone know of or can recommend a decent material (With prices and places to buy) that I can use to soundproof my case? Don't really fancy using the £30 from here and I've already had a look around B&Q etc but I can't find anything that would do the job. What do people use?

Thought about doing something similar today. The edges are the side panels on my 650D are not flush with the rest of the case and are letting dust in and leaking noise. I thought about buying some thin sheets of foam to just attach around the edges of the panels in an attempt to improve the situation. Went to Wilko and some other random shops and found nothing to suit.

Would be interested in some ideas too. The official soundproofing stuff is a little steep for what I want to use it for.

Exactly my situation. Going to take a trip down the local craft shop at the weekend but I wondered if anyone here had came up with anything.

that's how i have mine, it looks great but only if you trim it and fit it accurately which is quite hard to do....it's the standard suff you find here

1... it kills quite a lot of noise, but noise still exits out of the front and rear, it kills high pitched squealing most of all

2....dont put soundproofing near any intake areas, it'll disturb the airflow

3....you'll need total dustproofing for the intake fans, because the soundproofing is very hard to clean and keep dust free

Nicely done, tidy. How thick is the foam?

Looks a good job. But Im not sure if it's my sorta thing aesthetically. Just personal choice really.

Installed a new fan controller yesterday which has allow me to reduce noise a lot. But I can now notice my pump making what is now classed as a racket. It isn't actually secured to anything, just resting on the base of the case. When I lift it and suspend it in air, the sound is dramatically reduced.

Anyway, back on topic.

I may just try and get my hands on a sheet of cheapo foam just to fill in some gaps which are letting dust in, and sound out. Also the light from the screen on the fan controller can be seen around the edge of the controller when the light is off. Yep, it's bugging me. So ill use it to mask that too :)

not sure it's about 6mm to 8mm, it's bog standard sound proofing, it's the cheap struff, it hides the scratches on the Aluminium panels, but it will not prevent the fan noise from exiting the front grills...... but this noise is now muted and deep , rather than a noisy racket like on my last rig..... it kills the noise by about 60%

but i'm about to move/ replace my front fans, i'm not happy with them :D
