Is it possible to get a sound recorder (like a dictaphone) that is good enough quality to record loud music, can record over 10 hours and battery lasts for 10 hours?

What are dictaphones like at recording in loud environments?

Thats asking quite a lot. The only dictaphones (solid state or tape based) I've ever encountered were pretty rubbish with high volume and didn't last for anything like that long.

Its been a couple of years but I imagine what you're asking will cost serious bucks.

My canon powershot A540 camera can record video with good enough sound quality in compact mode for 3.65hours onto a 2gb sd card. Pointed at a black wall i reckon the batteries could last out for 10 hours.

This isnt really practial as the lens will be out all the time and its not really meant for just recording sound.

There must be a similar device that just has the option of recording higher quality sound onto SD memory with 1 aa battery for about £50 seems as though i got the A540 for £70

i think you're looking for high quality discreet component audio equipment matey.

I am, but not stupidly priced. Where do i look for this stuff? google turns back loads of crap like recording onto computers with software

Thought about this, whats the quality like and how do you get it from minidisk to pc?

With my ancient model, it's via the line-in or optical in at normal time ie 80 minutes takes 80 minutes. I know some of the newer minidsc players can be accessed via USB but I think you have to use Sony's software. Somebody may have developed an alternative but I wouldn't know.

It's been too long for me to make any comment about the quality of recordings.
