Hi

I have a very strange sound problem.

My PC is an i7 4th gen and is connected to my tv via HDMI cable. It runs Win 10,

I am using the built in audio and not a separate sound card.

The issue I have is that the sound stops working on everything apart from if move the volume slider and then I get the 'ping' noise Apart from that it doesn't work on anything else eg, youtube, media files etc.

I then run the troubleshooter and select no sound heard and it will then reinstall the driver and after I reboot it works again for about a day and then its the same problem again.

I have tried updating the drivers but the problem still occurs. What could it be?

Just today read of other quite similar case with problemns in getting sounds out through display connection.
Might have been some patch which breaks things.
Or then automatic driver "updates".
Microsoft and Wintoys 10 opera with "If it works, keep repairing it until it doesn't" motto.

If you haven't done it you could try disabling automatic driver updates and then reinstalling drivers.
At least disable all other sound outputs in Windows Playback settings than the one in use.

And if you use only that HDMI it might be better to disable integrated sound card directly in BIOS, or at least in Device Manager.

Thanks for the advice. I have disabled onboard audio to begin with and will see how it goes as I had already tried reinstalling the driver. I will see how it goes.
