Hi, my friend is hosting some wedding events at a hall and would like to know what would be the best option for a sound system? There's speakers all around the hall but nothing else, they would like something that could read memory cards, plug in a phone, stream from the internet, play a cd, connect to the wifi, it would be great if there was an all in one system with amplifier built in and not too pricey. Thanks

How big is the room and what is the budget? So far as I know there's nothing which does everything, but a receiver with a radio and perhaps a streamer might be the best option. Second hand without the latest HDMI connections would be the cheapest opinon.

On another forum I suggested a laptop which will play and stream everything going into an amp that feeds the speakers, his mate is not interested.
He wants all that built into an amp that feeds the speakers which I don't think exists.

Oh, yeah, there's a warehouse near me that have some of those. Straight down the aisle with the hen's teeth then turn left at the unicorn horns. It's not open very often. I think the next time is June the 31st.

Do you ever get the feeling that as kids some people were never told no when they had a tantrum? LMAO

You can get devices that do most of that - only it gets a bit complex when it comes to streaming from the internet - a laptop or similar plus amp vastly simplifies things.

EDIT: Can't find it from searching but there is a higher end version of the CRXN470D which has SD support but maybe discontinued or professional installation only or something (probably wouldn't satisfy the not too pricey bit though as it was more expensive again).

I did think about something along the same lines as the Yamaha. However, there's no memory card feature, but the biggest issue is the lack of power: 22W in to 6 Ohms just won't cut it for a hall. It's barely enough for a medium sized living room.

The whole brief is a mess. There's no clue how many speakers, and whether they're low Ohms or 100V line, and if they are low Ohms are they individually wired or cascaded?

Then there's the head unit itself. Who plays from memory cards when USB pen drives are cheap, capacious and universal? Also, how many different memory card formats have to be supported on the off-chance that the right one is covered; five? Jesus.

This is all before we get to the obvious omission that there's no provision for mics and mic/music mixing.

@Neil Molyneux's mate is thinking with a domestic head rather than from experience hosting live events. The answer is to hire some proper gear until they work out what they really need.

Where my brother got married had a higher end version of something similar which was powering the speakers in the hall but my recollection of the model details and what I can find from searching doesn't match up. It was very similar but had SD card support and obviously more powerful amp.

Actually on the day they had problems with it - fortunately we were prepared with a backup laptop and they had a backup amp.
