Was playing my ipod on my PC speakers and my parents were amazed by this.

They want a similar sort of setup but dont know what the options are. Basically they want something that stores lots of music and speakers to play it on - a bit like a hi fi but not. Dont know if that makes any sense at all. For example I ahve thought of

MP3 player + speakers
PC of some sort + speakers

I think an MP3 player is unecessary since they dont need it to be portable but a PC would be more expensive. What about a HTPC that they can plug into the tv and play xvids/music from? How much do they come to?

There budget solely for speakers is about £100. Either 2.1 or 5.1 (can you get 4?) Want them to be portable ish so we can move them from the loune and into the garden when its warm.

Does any of that make snese? Hope someone can offer some advice

Acoustic Energy Aego M 2.1 Speakers ;)

These are great speakers. They are 2.1 but really pack a punch. You can plug a MP3 player into the front using 3.5mm jack or by using a phono lead that plugs in the back.

The speakers are small, about 4" high and the sub about 14" so can be moved around pretty easily.

Ive got a pair of Altec Lansing foldable speakers(branded inMotion) which I use when travelling and listening to in the Garden.

They look small but have a great sound. Can dock an iPod into them and also has an aux input as well.
