Ive just bought an Antec 900 case which has two audio jacks on the top (green and pink)...

http://www.antec.com/uk/productDetails.php?ProdID=08009#

I have a set of Sennheiser headphones with a mic that also has to jacks to plug in. For me to use the jacks on the top of the case I can plug the case cables into the motherboard which is fine if I am using onboard sound...but not If im using a Creative X-Fi extreme music sound card. The question then is...there is a number of connectors on the X-Fi sound card itself...so can I plug the case wires onto the sound card itself and if so where. Ive looked at the online manual for the soundcard but it doesnt detail this. Can anyone advise on how to use the case audio connectors with the X-Fi?
Cheers

You need to take a look at the thin connector on the side of the x-fi furthest away from the motherboard, its fairly close to the outputs. The pinouts are the same as the audigy 2 zs, and go from right to left.

=================

1 - Analog Ground
2 - Analog Headphone Out Left
3 - Audio Backpanel Mute -- short to ground to mute the backpanel (when headphones are plugged in)
4 - Analog Headphone Out Right
5 - same as #3
6 - Mic input from front panel
7 - key pin (shouldn't be there)
8 - VREF out -- voltage reference for Mic
9 - MIC IN MUTE -- ground when mic isn't plugged in, +12VDC when mic is plugged in
10 - Audio cable detect -- will be ground when headphones are plugged in (not normally used)

Heres a discussion outlining the process.

And heres a link to make a connector for pre-moulded connectors. You can buy them on ebay from the US if you dont fancy the work.

Thansk for the info...got a heap on single square type connectors on my adio lead from the case...so gona give this a go when I get some spare time this week. The question is...why dont Creative just make it eay to plug these type of audio connectors in?????

Because they want to sell you their break-out box for more money. I am surprised that the pinouts aren't widely known, had to do a bit of searching for it myself. Apparently the magazine "Custom PC" is going to run a page on how to connect an X-fi to case connectors soon, so should bring some more awareness.
