Hi guys,

Got a load of machines (HP, Compaq, Lenovo) at work that can play sound/music through their case speaker... I've had a peak inside and the speakers connected to the motherboards by a 2 pin connection. The speakers play Windows sounds right from installation and don't require any configuration.

Is there anyway I can use one of these speakers on my own rig or do you think that these speakers will only work in their intended cases? I'd like to be able to get this working on a test machine I have that I move around a lot ;)

Any ideas?

I know the ones you mean, they aren't all that common on retail motherboards afaik. Often a retail board will have a "speaker" header on the board, but this is often merely a buzzer output

I tried one out on my own machine and it didn't work :(

They're definitely case/motherboard specific...
