Sound working but exclamation mark!

Hi,

I have done a fresh install of Windows 8.1 and getting this in device manager..

The audio works as you can see in this pic..

What could it be? I have onboard sound on the motherboard and no internal or external soundcard.

High Definition Audio Device is usually an optical out on the rear of the board near the other sound ports. It may be that you dont have the drivers installed for the High Definition audio device. Check your Motherboards CD/Website to see if there are any available drivers that are not realtek

WHen I go into driver details and copy the code it says on google its an intel audio driver?

It'll likely be the onboard graphics HDMI output. I'd hazard a guess it'll be an Intel HDxxxx so head over to the Intel download center and get the latest drivers for the onboard graphics (Which will include the audio driver).

To help identify what component is causing the issue, in Device Manager, click on "Details" and then choose "Hardware Ids" from "Property".

If you Google the code(s) given it should give you a clue.
