Hey.

Was wondering if this is anything to worry about. Basically the PC is running quiet and performs fine, but sometimes I get a random 'Click' sound coming round from CD drive / front fan / HDD area. It's quite random.

What could be causing this ?

It's loud enough for me to hear from my seat, it's not very quiet, as in, like a fan noise would make after hitting a wire. The sound is not metallic, also, so I doubt it;s the case.

very weird

Oh I see.

Well... I might have a problem, then. lol

Ive ordered a new mobo thats due to arrive on Monday, will the windows still install fine ?

Gah so I HAVE to call them ? Is there another way? :D
Got all the details etc, just not keen waiting days for them to answer my call.

What do I tell them ? I mean, logically, if this key is bound to this motherboard, what can they do for the new one ? give me a replacement key ?

Ok. Thanks for the help mate.

Gah, ive spent so much money on this PC lately. New case, new CPU cooler, now new mobo due to this one having faulty RAM slots, and now it looks as if I need a new HDD too...

:(

I think it's definitely the HDD, ive saw a couple of videos and this sounds very similar.

Also, ive found a HDD from a HTPC I had 1-2 years ago. I think it has some files inside it, which i'd like to get rid of.

When my mobo comes, do I just put it in, format it, then proceed with the new w7 install ?

Thanks Surveyor. Hopefully I wont have to wait ages then to get through to someone.

About the clicks, could it be CD drive and not the HDD

?

Also, from all videos ive seen that feature the clicking, the clicking is continuous, whereas it clicks once, or once and then 2nd time, then its perfectly quiet for some time.

Got the new mobo, my RAM slots are working fine again.

Whats better, my hard drive clicking seemed to have stopped.
Also, I did not have to call Microsoft at all ! Got the new mobo in and just booted into the windows fine :D
