Hi

I have a Yamaha YSP-2700 currently with everything connected to it via hdmi, I have an optical cable running to the TV for sound as I don't use HDMI-CEC or ARC features.

Ive had hdmi handshaking issues with the soundbar and the ps4 and xbox displaying a picture on the TV.

I think Ive fixed that now, but Im thinking about putting all my devices directly into the TV and running an optical cable from soundbar to TV.

Would that be a bad idea considering I would not get DTS/Dolby HD on an optical cable only the standard dts and dolby digital.

Considering its only a soundbar would you think I would notice any differences in sound quality?

Main reason I want to do this is because of the hdmi handshake issues I've had and the fact it would be quite simple having my devices connected straight to TV and setting them up easily on a Harmony remote.

I just don't want to think Im missing out on sound quality.

Thanks

Went optical route and seems ok but Im unsure if I have it set up correctly.

I have all devices into KS7000 via hdmi and a single optical cable from TV to soundbar, I have sound across all sources but on my soundbar display it displays PCM/ Dolby pro logic 2 , this is on normal freeview TV and when playing bluray movies on XBOX and Ps4.

Have got something setup wrong, was thinking I should see dolby digital 5.1 or DTS.

Your TV may not be able to pass DD or DTS via optical, it may only be passing stereo sound to your soundbar and it's processing it as Dolby Pro Logic 2. I would check your manual.

It can, figured out its the stupid settings on the TV, you have to manually change it to Dolby or DTS depending on the content being played, how daft is that!

Getting rid of this TV anyway now.

Seem's the few issues you have had beach have really annoyed you and i can see why

So Glad i have not bought this TV now lol. Never had a issue with my H6400 if i had the issues you had beach i wouldn't of been happy getting rid of a perfectly decent H6400 and not been able to get this TV again and then been stuck on what TV to get next. I do believe after seeing the KS7000 myself in Richer Sounds. That it is a decent TV. But a few flaws with it that niggle people it does get mixed reviews even though it is highly rated

Exactly, Im keeping a close eye on the Panasonic EX750 and Sony XE90, more expensive but will decide once more full reviews are out.
