All over the world...
Not sure if anyone can help but last week I had my Panasonic 58" 4K screen delivered and also a Panasonic soundbar htb 680 model. The tv is the 58dx902b model.

Anyhow when I first hooked it all up, the tv remote controlled both the tv and the soundbar volume. In the tv settings I could choose home cinema but now it does not come up and I can only control the soundbar via its own small remote.

Not sure what has happened but it doesn't seem to work anymore. I had to change a few things connection wise but I'm pretty sure I connected it all back as it originally was.

So from the soundbar I have the optical cable connected to the soundbar and the other end is connected to the tv. Then I have my hdmi cable connected to a hdmi port on the tv and the other end going into the soundbar. But still no dice as in the tv remote won't control the soundbar like it used to. When I turn the tv off the soundbar would turn off and vice versa. But as I said it no longer works like that. I've had a look at the tv settings but I haven't changed anything in there.

Any ideas as to why it's no longer working??

Also i have the AX65 and in the sound options on the TV it gives me the option to set the TV's sound to home cinema or TV

I'll have to play around with the connections later. But I don't even get the home cinema settings in the tv settings.

I'll just connect it via hdmi and see if that sorts the issue out but I'm pretty sure both optical and HDMI were connected at the same time to the tv.

Optical cable was given to me free when I bought the tv.

Hi

Check you are using the correct HDMI input on both your devices there will be one of the soundbar called HDMI/ARC and the same goes for the tv one HDMI input is marked HDMI/ ARC..You should get control of the sound back then.

Well having connected the soundbar with just the HDMI cable from the arc HDMI connection on the tv to the soundbar, I get no sound but soon as I connect the optical cable I get sound.

Just spent a good half hr on the phone with currys tech support and it seems that it's the soundbar that's faulty. So will be taking it to the store and get them to connect it and see if they get the issue. If so then they will replace it, if it works as intended instore then it's probably the tv which will get replaced.

I'm hoping it isn't the tv although it's a not a big deal as I'll just get a new one but still a pain in the backside.

get them to hook it up to the same model TV as yours , and ask them to get an expert in to do it , they will possibly need to call the cleaner in for this :D

Is Viera Link turned on in the panasonics tv menu ? double check:)

Yep all checked and all on including the soundbar.

Although if I go into the TV apps screen, there is an icon for viera link but when I try to enable it, it says this feature is not available.

I'll be taking it tomo to the store where I ordered it from and see what happens when connected to one of their TVs.

Update, soundbar works perfectly well with the same tv I have instore.

So now just waiting on a date when they will come and replace the tv with a new one. Just hope the new tv doesn't have any issues.
