Soundbar Needed

I have the same tv and bought a sony ct60b for around 100 quid, it's a vast improvement. Please note however you'd need to raise the TV higher than it slightly (I used cardboard) otherwise obscures lower part of TV (assuming it's using normal stand)

Cheers , going to pop into Sony tomorrow to have a look :)

I'm sure it will be good (better than TV speakers), however obviously not as good as separates etc. One thing I would recommend is replacing the very small digital cable they come with.

I'd rather go for something like a Yamaha. Having owned a Samsung home theatre system before I don't rate their audio stuff very highly.

Come to think of it I'm sure there was a highly reviewed marantz soundbar at the 200quid mark (possibly didn't have sub), just Google top 10 sound bars

By chance does the Sony KDL-42W706B have Bluetooth , as i have notice i can pick the T.V using my Bluetooth on my laptop and says " Ready To Pair " , i have notice the Sony HTCT260H is bluetooth ?

Just a touch over your budget but I enjoy my Yamaha YSP1400. http://m.richersounds.com/#!/product/YAMA-YSP1400
No floor shaking bass unless you add an extra sub (it comes with 2 built in). High sound quality and Dolby 5.1. You can get an app for the phone to program the dimensions of the room in and it bounces the sound off the walls for surround sound. You can also program a lot of settings from the remote.

A built-in sub is still not as good as one that comes with a decent external sub (which the Sony does), and it is 25% over the OP's budget.

Yes but the Yamaha will blow the competition away with sound quality. The sub is built in but also separate from the other speakers. The sub input is balanced rather than overwhelming and perhaps a deal elsewhere could be found as richersounds aren't always the cheapest. 25% is definitely a jump. Throwing it in for consideration.
