Hi all,
Got a new TV last Christmas which has been great, and recently I picked up a sound bar (Creative Stage 360) which I think has been a nice improvement as well, however it has highlighted a potential issue that I'm wondering if I can solve.
I'm using the soundbar with the ARC hdmi port and then plugging in our media pc to the soundbar, however the arc port on the TV says 4k @ 60hz, so thought I'd try moving it to another port and the sound still worked although I guess if I wanted to use the tv remote to change volume it wouldn't? (which is fine as 99% of the time we change the volume in windows anyway).
However I also realised I hadn't even tried to use HDR as it was disabled in Windows, so I tried a combination of setting the refresh rate to 120 and hdr, and seemingly none of them would work with the soundbar, and when I plugged the pc in directly whilst the settings changed the picture also changed tone and looked a bit off but not sure if that's another point entirely.
I had a quick check and the soundbar has hdmi 2.0 ports and so that's the issue I'm guessing and there's nothing I can do about it?
It can do 1440p 120hz I discovered when I changed the res in jedi survivor which switched the tv to 120hz automatically it seems which is kind of what started this whole journey down the rabbit hole as I hadn't realised/had forgotten some of the potential features the TV had!
Would an alternative be to connect the soundbar via something else, so plug the PC and soundbar into the TV directly vs plugging the pc into the soundbar and then that into the tv at the moment.
