Hi all,
Got a new TV last Christmas which has been great, and recently I picked up a sound bar (Creative Stage 360) which I think has been a nice improvement as well, however it has highlighted a potential issue that I'm wondering if I can solve.

I'm using the soundbar with the ARC hdmi port and then plugging in our media pc to the soundbar, however the arc port on the TV says 4k @ 60hz, so thought I'd try moving it to another port and the sound still worked although I guess if I wanted to use the tv remote to change volume it wouldn't? (which is fine as 99% of the time we change the volume in windows anyway).

However I also realised I hadn't even tried to use HDR as it was disabled in Windows, so I tried a combination of setting the refresh rate to 120 and hdr, and seemingly none of them would work with the soundbar, and when I plugged the pc in directly whilst the settings changed the picture also changed tone and looked a bit off but not sure if that's another point entirely.

I had a quick check and the soundbar has hdmi 2.0 ports and so that's the issue I'm guessing and there's nothing I can do about it?
It can do 1440p 120hz I discovered when I changed the res in jedi survivor which switched the tv to 120hz automatically it seems which is kind of what started this whole journey down the rabbit hole as I hadn't realised/had forgotten some of the potential features the TV had!

Would an alternative be to connect the soundbar via something else, so plug the PC and soundbar into the TV directly vs plugging the pc into the soundbar and then that into the tv at the moment.

Thanks, tried playing aroud with it last night but I don't think the TV has an arc out, just an earc/arc port and if I plug in the pc to another hdmi port, then the audio comes out of the tv, and if I specifically tell the tv to use an arc device it says nothing is connected, would I be using the arc out or one of the hdmi inputs on the soundbar? (I mean I tried both to check but just so if I have another go later)

yes you would need to use arc input on the soundbar.

You may need to enable HDMI CEC and set HDMI audio output on the TV.

I have used E-ARC and it works, different kit but same princriple. Audio & Video to TV inputs, then HDMI out from TV into av pre amp (so I can hear sound from TV apps)

I think the soundbar has 3 hdmi ports, two input (hdmi1/2) and then an arc out but will double check later. I'll have a look at the hdmi settings on the tv thanks.

ARC is bidirectional, it goes both ways so there is no ARC "In or Out".

It's already been covered (except number 4), but here it is step by step:

1. Connect your PC to a regular HDMI port on the TV. This will take care of the video.
2. Then connect the HDMI ARC port on the TV directly to the HDMI ARC port on the soundbar. This will take care of the audio.
3. On your TV go to Settings, then Display and Sounds, then Audio, and then Audio Output. Choose "ARC". This is so the TV knows to send the audio down the HDMI ARC port (rather than the internal speakers, headphones, bluetooth etc)
4. On your soundbar's remote, press the "Source" button until the display shows "TV". This is so that the soundbar knows to use the HDMI ARC for audio (rather than over Bluetooth etc.)

Thanks, thought I had tried that exact process but hopefully not and so it'll work when I try it later!

It's not the end of the world as I tend to play more slow paced single player stuff on that setup anyway but would be a nice bonus to get working.
