Hi

Im thinking of getting a sound bar, I currently have a 3.1 system, mainly want to just make more room by getting rid of my separates.

If I got a soundbar would that make my AVR pointless.

I plan on getting a 4k TV eventually so will need to upgrade things like the AVR but I guess I could not bother if I had a sound bar.

I have a ps4 and xbox one.

Any recommendations on sound bars. I know separates will be better in most cases but I want to free up some space.

If someone can advise.

*Maybe something that has hdmi connections and supports 4k, Sony HT-NT5?

Thanks

I'd wait until you get your 4k tv and work out a package deal for one that matches the looks of your tv and can pair up via bt etc.

Im not ready just yet for a 4k TV but Im decorating the room and my TV is wall mounted which Im planning on putting back onto a TV stand.

To do this I need to lose my speakers.

Im looking at the Yamaha YSP-2700, looks to have all the inputs I need and has all the 4K spec needed.

Pricey though.

Anyone have this soundbar?

You can't go wrong with Yamaha soundbars. I have bought 3 so far.

The YAS range is pretty poor but meets a price point. the YSP range are decent and the more you spend the better it gets

I have a YSP-2700.

Pros: very clear sounds especially centre channel, nice bass without being overpowering, good connectivity if you want to hook it up like a 'proper' AV amp, passes through 4k@60Hz, looks great, well built, wireless sub

Cons: expensive, I can't get a dramatic surround effect (though my room's an awkward shape), seems to have occasional handshaking issues with my HTPC, you need to change a setting to enable deep colour on the HDMI port

I've put a pic in the show us your kit thread at the top.

Thanks guys.

Something I need to understand, the sub is wireless I gather, I thought the 2700 had a sub connection on the rear and a cable is included in the box?

You can hard wire it if you wish. Typical scenario would be if you were suffering interference issues though, since the wireless configuration has been simple and flawless for me so far.

I think you have to change some setting too if you want to hard wire it. Default is wireless iirc. This also means it's simpler if you want to experiment with different positions, since you only have to worry about the power lead.

Not sure when it happened but you might want to watch out for random price hikes on the YSP2700 as I got mine brand new boxed from RS for £624 last month and it's now £899!!!

It works so well with Spotify Connect just a shame you can't stream higher quality radio (ClassicFM is just 128Kbps) as DAB is better than some of the streams available!

Also don't forget about Quidco and RS VIP club discounts - got me £25 off just for mentioning it!

Yeah heard that, must be to do with most things going up in price.
Will keep checking prices, hopefully one shop drops the price so I can price match.

Richer sounds sent an email out to all their VIP members about a month ago stating if they were looking to buy something do it now. All prices will be going up due to what is happening regarding Brexit and the weak £

Got the YSP-2700 in the end, very happy with it.

A few things, I take it I should be using 7.1 uncompressed under my xbox one sound settings now as opposed to 5.1 which I was originally using.

Also I cant find any night mode on the soundbar, for when I want the sub lower so I dont wake anybody. I thought there was something or is it a case of manual adjustments and saving it to a mode.

Thanks
