Hello. Hoping you guys might be able to provide some advice. I've got a 42" Panasonic TV in my (smallish) living room and the sound is crap as you would expect from a flat screen. I am looking at the following options:

DENON DHTT110
CAMBRIDGE TV2
PANASONIC SCHTE80EB

All are £200 from Richer Sounds. Which one would you pick? Does anybody have experiance of any of these products? Does anyone have any alternative suggestions at the same budget?

Cheers in advance for any help.

Cheers StevieP. I'll have a look at those Maxell's. A smaller footprint might be nice as the current TV unit isn't massive. HDMI isn't as much of an issue for me as I don't think I have HDMI ARC on my TV.

I'm ideally looking for something that has a bit of a punchy sound for action movies that is still livable for day-to-day TV.

I'd spend a little more and get something like this.

you don't have to use all the speakers if you don't want to, just use 2.1 or 3.1 if that's what you want.

It'll sound so much better than a sound bar.

This looks like an interesting option. Didn't think I would be able to get anything like that for the price. Only problem is its a little less wife friendly lol. Would take some persuasion. Plus point is that I could switch to 5.1 in the future if I could sort the logistics of the wires but the wire issue is kind of why you look at a sound at in the first place.

You have given something for me to think about though. Cheers :)

Started looking at AV receiver options aswell now lol. Really like the look of the Pioneer VSX-529 as it has AirPlay compatibility, but I think I'm going to end up going way over budget once I have included speakers.
