Hi there,

Considering picking one of these up along with a proper set of studio quality headphones for Christmas.

Is the 4 pin molex connector 100% required? Or is it just for RGB. I'd rather just plug and play than have to re-cablemanage my system.

Unless needing Dolby Digital/DTS encoder for getting digital 5.1 sound through optical out, standard AE-5 would do as well.
And if all you're using is headphones (no analog surround speaker sets) then B-stock Sound BlasterX G6 would be darn good for the £70 Creative is selling it.
It's pretty much AE-5's external alternative, minus surround speaker line outs.

Thanks for the replies! the external BlasterX G6 does look quite interesting. Whats B stock? im guessing returned & refurbished kinda stuff?

Products which buyer for some reason returned to Creative, who then inspected that they worked and come with all the stuff expected in package.
I bought B-stock SBX G6 in spring as my first external sound card.
Except for B-stock sticker on package it would have gone through as factory fresh.

Exactly that but with only 90 days warranty.
Creative's B-stock product warranty is one year.
That 90 day is for repairs done to items returned under warranty.

Went with the Soundblaster G6 B stock, absolutely nothing wrong with it! Clean, working and with all accessories as well. £40 saved.

Thanks for the recommendation @EsaT
