I had to do a complete format and install when I bought mine the other day. It took 7 minutes for the z-series control panel to open. 3 minutes each to open up the relevent tabs (yes, it was a clean removal and install of drivers etc). After the format it now opens up immediately. The sound for me is very good, but not as good as my x-fi fatality champion. The sound is bassy etc and good quality but theres summat about it that aint quite right somehow. Black ops2 has surround sound EVERYWHERE and i mean everywhere..even if theres nobody behind me there are guns going off, subsequently when i turn around to "go n get 'em" i get shot..from behind

But the real pain in the ass is the crackling and sound dropouts, not the usual dropout though, the sound goes, and stays gone and I have to finish whatever level/map I am playing, quit and restart the sound, then all is good until I start another game then 10 mins later the sound goes walkabout again. This is with the new drivers as well 1.1.2028 (which even though the software is set to check for updates on boot etc, it failed to notice the new 'uns) I may start to call my soundcard Croc.
Theres no audio creation btw
Start list shows in order..
Creative software autoupdate (lies)
Get bonus software (the usual update malarky)
Product registration
Soundblaster speaker setup (much like the thx speaker setup)

Soundblaster Z-series folder (readme and z-series control panel icon)

I've just run the autoupdate and theres a new Creative Music server update, IOW its just a file manager for music...boohoo
This is coupled with Sennheiser pc350 (quite nice) or Razer Taimat 7.1 (SHOOT HER!...SHOOOOOT HER!!) terrible 'phones IMO.
