I've decided to crack on and use my hifi headphones for PC headset / gaming use. Although I'm using the 250ohm versions of the DT990s my onboard audio seems to power them without a huge amount of issue, but I'm still short a mic.

I've not been able to get one of the clip-on ones (Zalem?), not sure if they're discontinued but out of stock everywhere then noticed the Soundblaster Z comes with a mic, doesn't cost the earth so was wondering if it'd be worth picking up?

It's kinda of desk mic, so not the best if you have any noise sources.
And SB Z itself is showing its age with headphone output which isn't up to date.
Especially considering how Creative has B-stock Sound BlasterX G6 for £70 with better D/A converter and vastly better headphone amplifier.

Hmmm makes sense at that price, I realised after posting last night I have a dragonfly usb DAC I usually use in work kicking around so tried that hooked into the USB port on my keyboard, bit of an ugly solution but it worked pretty well.

Just missing the mic now, and having that stupid "buy something!" anti-money saving twitch
