Originally I wasn't going to have a soundcard at all until I had some more money, but I have just acquired a Genius Sound Maker Value 4.1 and I was just wondering whether it will be compatible with modern day motherboards, i haven't bought yet, but was planning on getting an Asus P5KC.

Thanks

Ok I've now bout the P5KC, will this sound card fit it, Im a bit confused as to whether PCI is the same as PCI-E?

Most modern day motherboards have PCI-E and PCI slots, yours has both. PCI is the older slot but still used for things like TV-cards, sound cards etc. PCI-E is the modern day version, some cards etc use this instead.

Thank you for the reply, I had given up on this topic, didn't think anyone would reply :P

I got the board and the soundcard fitted, so I assumed it would be ok, but not got it up and running yet.
