Right iv got a 2006 (i think) X-fi fatality fps edition sound card, it's been all fine and dandy untill past 5 months, then i downloaded the pax drivers, all was fine untill about a month ago, iv reinstalled drivers a few times and done a driver sweep because the problem to begin with, was that no matter what or which 5.1 audio plugs i plugged them into, all the channels was mixed up, then i downloaded pax drivers, they got muddled up again 3 months later without even touching the cables, now iv actually labeled which goes where so i friggin know which are the correct ways and that its my sound card thats going funny again. so now for past month or so, randomly after everything is all fine and dandy, it might be between changing games, or playing a different song, my audio channels will be mixed up, like rear audio coming out of just the left front, the sub coming out of centre, and front coming out of the rear right etc. and after a reboot its solved.
so is this just a old card on its last legs? or do you think it might be some sort of conflict between programmes? iv not installed anything though since before this started happening, so not quite sure why its happening now.
