I've tried posting this twice now in Sound, but never had a response so hopefully GH can help!
Here is my problem:
I'm running Vista x64 and currently using onboard sound into a 5.1 setup. For my Xbox360 i'm using the optical out (from the 360) to connect to an old SB Extigy, which is also going out through my 5.1 speakers.
Unfortuantely, I have to keep swapping the speaker cables between the onboard and the Extigy, depending on what I want to use - this is a royal pain.
What I'd like therefore is a solution whereby I can have one soundcard for both systems - ideally something inside the PC that I can just connect the optical out from the Xbox360 in order to get 5.1 sound from either source. I know this means I'll need the pc on to play on the 360, but this isn't a problem.
Any suggestions? I've been looking and I think the Asus Xonar D2X has both optical in and out, but it's a lot of mony if it doesn't work!
